CREAP Africa Initiative Mourns Victims, Demands Action and Public Support

CREAP Africa Initiative extends it’s deepest condolences to the families and communities affected by the devastating floods that struck Mokwa Local Government Area in Niger State.

In a statement signed by the organization’s Executive Director, Sylvanus Udoenoh, the urged coordinated humanitarian support for survivors of the incidence.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of over 153 people, destruction of over 265 homes, the collapse of critical infrastructure, and displacement of over 3,000 people across several communities in Mokwa.”

The organization linked the disaster to climate change, blocked drainage, and poor construction on waterways, and called on the government to invest in climate-resilient infrastructure and enforce urban planning laws.

The statement urges the public, NGOs, and development partners to donate food, medical supplies, and shelter. The initiative pledged to mobilize resources in partnership with local authorities.
